OPENING PRAYER

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Psalm 122:1 ESV

REFRAIN

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

THE WORD OF GOD/A READING

Luke 1:46-55 ESV

And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

REFRAIN

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

PRAYER

God, you have helped mothers through all the ages, mothers who have come before me, including Mary, mother of Jesus. I ask you to help me in the same way. Guide me in my new tasks, bless my precious baby and my partner. – Rachel

CONCLUSION

A Collect for Guidance (BCP 82)

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
